Assistance Dogs of Hawaii reaches hundreds of people in the community each week through a variety of programs designed to benefit, support and enhance the lives of people with physical and developmental disabilities in our community.
The Ohana Program provides weekly services that reach hundreds of people with special needs in our community. Groups like the Easter Seals and special education classes from local schools make regular visits to Sadie’s Place, which is completely wheelchair accessible. Programs are designed specifically to serve and benefit each group. Activities include interacting with the puppies, grooming, and training exercises. This is truly a win-win situation since some participants choose to volunteer to help with activities such as cleaning and gardening. Children with special needs who are not able to have a dog at home also visit Sadie’s Place for a little puppy love.
