Assistance Dogs of Hawaii Announces “Giving Thanks” Benefit Event November 16
First Annual Event on Oahu Hosted by Guy Hagi and Kim Gennaula
Kick your holiday season off right by giving thanks for man’s best friend- our fabulous canine companions! Assistance Dogs of Hawaii will host their first ever fundraiser on Oahu at the Waialae Country Club on Sunday, November 16. Tickets are $150 a person and tables of ten for $1500.
Meet the dynamo dogs of Assistance Dogs of Hawaii and enjoy a fabulous jazz trio, gourmet three-course dinner, and exciting live auction at this event. Masters of Ceremonies Guy Hagi and Kim Gennaula will emcee an inspiring program, highlighting successful graduate teams and our current puppies in training!
Since its inception in 2000, Assistance Dogs of Hawaii has placed over 60 Service Dogs with people of need around the state and touches the lives of thousands of Hawaii residents each year through Community Outreach Programs. ADH places its Assistance Dogs and lifetime follow-up support free of charge to the recipients. Besides Service Dogs for people with physical disabilities, graduates include Hospital Facility Dogs like Tucker, “chief canine officer” at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Hospital Facility Dog Yoda at Queen’s Medical Center Cancer Clinic, and Hospital Facility Dog Angel at the Rehab Hospital of the Pacific. Courthouse Dog Pono works at the Honolulu Prosecutor’s Office full-time, helping children who are victims of crime through the difficult legal process. She helps to give children the courage to find their voice during interviews and while testifying in court.
“We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to serve children and adults on Oahu for the past 14 years. We are so excited about hosting our first benefit event here, where most of our graduates live,” says Mo Maurer, Executive Director. “The generosity of our dedicated supporters is what makes this program possible and this evening is a way to say thank you and for them to see the lives that are changed because of their generosity.”
